A successful pharmaceutical company is looking for a Research Scientist or Senior Scientist with expertise in antibody/protein biophysical characterisation to join its Antibody Humanisation and Engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery-focused scientist who enjoys generating high-quality experimental data and wants to contribute to the future of AI/ML-driven antibody engineering and digital drug discovery.
You’ll work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of wet-lab and computational scientists, helping to generate critical biophysical datasets that support the development of next-generation antibody optimisation technologies.
Key responsibilities
* Generate and analyse biophysical data for antibody panels
* Assess molecule quality and purity prior to characterisation
* Evaluate properties including affinity, thermal stability, self-interaction and non-specific binding
* Collaborate closely with computational scientists to support AI/ML model development
* Present and communicate data across scientific teams
* Support development of new antibody characterisation methodologies
Ideal background
* PhD or equivalent industry experience in antibody/protein biophysical characterisation
* Hands‑on experience with techniques assessing affinity, stability and developability e.g. SPR, BLi, DSC, DSF, DLS, mass photometry, etc.
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
* Interest in computational antibody engineering or AI‑guided optimisation would be advantageous
* Experience with structural visualisation tools such as PyMOL would be beneficial
This role is offered on an initial 12-month contract.
