The Street Work Inspectors play a key role in the delivery of the Lancashire permit scheme including coordinating and inspecting works on the highway. The role undertakes inspections in line with the New Roads and Street Work Act 1991 and the Lancashire permit scheme. Inspectors also have to meet with works operators (including utilities and contractors) to ensure effective planning of works, co-ordination and safety are in place.
This role is critical in ensuring that compliance with the national codes of practice are maintained at all times, as well as the requirements of the Lancashire permit scheme. As a result of this the role is important in reducing delays and disruption, on the highway, as a result of works and activities.
As a Street Works Inspector you will Inspect other works and activities on the highway (including, but not limited to, skips, scaffolds, and highway development works) to ensure that they are complying with relevant permits, licences, conditions and other policies and procedures. Also, reacting proficiently to customer complaints.
This position is a full-time position (37 hours). The team's office base is at Cuerden Way, Bamber Bridge but the successful candidate will be mobile working covering the whole of Lancashire. This role does include a significant amount of outdoor working and driving therefore you must have a full and valid driving licence and you will be driving an LCC van or similar. The normal working hours are 8am till 4pm. The team operates on a 5 over 7 working week which includes a weekend working rota. Flexibility on working hours will be required to meet service demands within your contracted hours.
