About the Role
The Telegraph is looking for a proactive and positive individual to work in its Editorial SEO team, ensuring its News content is performing at its best in search engines and on Discover.
Reporting into the Senior Discover Editor, the role will focus on getting the most out of what the newsroom publishes and thinking originally about how we can improve in the promotion of live and topical content, working with respective teams to do so.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the editorial desks, supporting with SEO advice and optimisations on trending topics throughout the day
* Respond to breaking news events, driving as much traffic as possible by pitching reactive articles and monitoring live blogs
* Help create and implement forward plans and performance reports
* Work alongside the Senior Discover Editor to improve visibility and pageviews from Google Discover across desks
Essential Skills
* A thorough understanding of Google, Google Discover and how SEO works
* Experience working on content plans
* A strong interest in news and current affairs
* Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
* An ability to build and maintain positive relationships
* Ability to respond effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Desirable Skills
* Experience working across different audience channels (eg social, video etc.)
* Knowledge of technical SEO
