Contract: Full-time | Initial 3–6 months with potential for extension
A local authority in North East London is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care team. The service promotes independence, resilience and wellbeing, supporting adults to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. As a Senior OT, you will lead on complex assessments, provide supervision to colleagues, and support the development of high-quality, strengths-based practice across the team.
Main Duties:
1. Undertake and oversee complex Occupational Therapy assessments, including reablement and Care Act assessments
2. Lead on discharge planning, equipment provision, and complex adaptations
3. Leadership and supervision of up to 8 Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Community Care Officers, ensuring professional governance and high service performance.
4. Mentorship and role modelling, supporting colleagues through advice, quality assurance, guidance, and promoting collaborative problem-solving for optimal citizen outcomes.
5. Expertise in complex assessments and care and support planning, particularly where safety is impacted by equipment or adaptation needs, supporting less experienced practitioners.
6. Active contributor to service development, driving best practice in social care through proactive engagement and innovation.
7. Provide professional supervision, guidance and support to OTs, unregistered staff and students
8. Carry out moving and handling risk assessments and ensure safe, effective practice
9. Contribute to safeguarding investigations, multi-agency planning, and risk management
10. Manage a caseload of complex cases, ensuring statutory requirements and service priorities are met
11. Promote service development and best practice within Adult Social Care
12. Support training, CPD activities and peer learning within the OT team
Requirements:
13. Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
14. HCPC Registration
15. Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience in Adult Social Care or Community OT
16. Proven ability to manage complex cases and discharge planning
17. Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues/students
18. Strong knowledge of moving and handling and complex adaptations
19. Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can assist)
20. Eligibility to work in the UK
21. Driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable
