Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00 Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
Salary: Grade 13 FTE £25,989 – £28,142 Actual £21,685 – £23,481
Prospero Teaching is working closely with a secondary school in Taunton who are seeking a committed and proactive School Engagement Officer to join their Student Services team. This is a student-facing role focused on safeguarding, attendance, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the development and implementation of attendance strategies, including home visits and liaison with families
2. Lead individual and group interventions to improve student attendance and punctuality
3. Prioritise support for disadvantaged students and those with persistent absence
4. Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining high standards of safeguarding practice
5. Collaborate with teaching, pastoral, and external teams to support student welfare
6. Monitor attendance data, complete statutory returns, and maintain accurate records
7. Promote positive attitudes toward learning, behaviour, and attendance
8. Uphold school policies including safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection
Ideal Candidate:
9. Experience working with young people in education, youth work, or social care
10. Strong understanding of safeguarding and attendance legislation
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
13. Committed to inclusion, equality, and diversity
14. Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (Or willing to apply for one!)
