We are looking for a flexible, dynamic and forward‑thinking First Contact Practitioner to join our team in SDHC, working in Banstead.
Responsibilities
* Act as the First Contact Practitioner for patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.
* Triage patients into the most appropriate pathway – self‑care, further assessment, community physiotherapy, diagnostics or secondary care.
* Provide clinical expertise, conduct assessments, formulate differential diagnoses and implement management plans in line with local and national guidelines.
* Request and interpret investigations, including x‑rays and blood tests, to aid diagnosis and treatment decisions.
* Enable patients to make informed decisions about their care using principles of shared decision making:
o Help patients identify priorities and outcomes important to them.
o Explain all available options in non‑technical language (including doing nothing).
o Explore risks, benefits and consequences of each option.
o Support patients in choosing their preferred pathway.
* Continually update knowledge in line with Health Education England recommendations for FCPs and participate in development opportunities.
Qualifications
* Completed Stage 1 of the First Contact Practitioner framework and able to provide evidence at interview.
* Ability to assess patients without prior GP contact and make appropriate clinical decisions.
* Demonstrated competence in musculoskeletal assessment and shared decision making.
