Robert Walters are recruiting a proven Interim Head of Transport to lead their nationwide transport operation from the Northamptonshire based hub. This role offers the opportunity to lead an national operational transformation, ensuring standards are met within legislation, compliance, and health & safety. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maximising cost efficiency and contributing to capital development projects. This role requires a strong team builder with exceptional interpersonal skills, who can create a high-performance culture within the team.
Overview
The Head of Transport will coordinate all transport processes with internal and external stakeholders, develop logistics strategies, and ensure the fleet operates within legal and regulatory standards. The role includes providing leadership, monitoring quality and efficiency, and managing staff resources to meet changing needs.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate all transport processes across internal and external stakeholders
* Develop logistics strategy by analysing problems and producing innovative solutions
* Monitor the quality, cost, and efficiency of movement and storage of goods
* Lead engagement, development, and performance management of the transport department
* Ensure the fleet operates within legal and regulatory standards
* Provide clear direction, motivation, and leadership to the team
* Support operations teams country-wide in contracting and third-party service provider management
* Manage resources to deliver on KPI/SLAs in a cost-effective manner
* Analyse data to monitor performance and plan improvements
* Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs
