Main Duties:
As a Management Accountant, your main duties include:
* Produce and report monthly management accounts for UK business units, ensuring timely review of P&Ls with operational leaders.
* Collate commentary and insights with the business partnering team to support trading performance and present findings to senior management.
* Drive the budgeting process for assigned divisions, working with business partners to understand cost drivers, challenge assumptions, and support operationally owned budgets.
* Support profitability analysis and provide actionable insights to the business.
* Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations for relevant business units, highlighting risks and opportunities to senior colleagues.
* Assist with year-end and external audits, providing necessary information and support to the audit teams.
* Support corporate governance and financial controls, helping maintain best practice documentation for accounting processes and controls.
* Ensure all regular reporting cycle targets are met and deadlines adhered to.
* Where applicable, mentor and guide assistant management accountants responsible for smaller units or subcomponents, supporting their development.
* Undertake ad hoc financial analysis to aid decision-making and support business initiatives.
Location / Office / Culture
The role is based in Birmingham with a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office and two from home. You’ll join a collaborative finance team within a supportive environment where managers encourage development and knowledge sharing. What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experienced in management accounting with strong financial skills.
* Skilled in month-end processes, revenue posting, and resolving exceptions.
* Experience with customer rebate accruals and multi-unit performance reporting.
* Strong analytical skills for profitability, supplier reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
* Confident interpreting financial data to provide insights and forecasts.
* Able to reconcile and analyse detailed cost data for accurate customer profitability.
* Comfortable with automated revenue reporting systems and troubleshooting.
* Collaborative, clear communicator, adaptable to evolving processes, with a focus on continuous improvement.
