Job Description

Job Purpose

To assist the Widening Participation & Lifelong Learning (WP&LLL) team in taking forward the portfolio of Access and / or Open Learning courses. To effectively and efficiently undertake a range of duties associated with teaching, assessment and associated administration to contribute to meeting learning and teaching objectives in Lifelong Learning.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our team in Lifelong Learning to help deliver our Introductory Art Psychotherapy courses, both online 10-week lecture/seminar-based courses and potentially a longer in in-person, theoretical and practice-based 20-week course based in our art studio on campus. The 10-week course runs twice a year, live online via Zoom, with a virtual learning environment to support the learning.

Main Duties And Responsibilities


* To deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities (including tutorials/seminars) online, face to face and in a blended-learning format in WP&LLL subject areas.
* To contribute to the design and development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives.
* To participate in the assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning. Including setting and marking assignments and exams in accordance with the code of assessment.
* To assist with the facilitation of student learning, and any practical work, advising on skills, methods and techniques to assist the transfer of knowledge, and respond appropriately to the diverse range of learner support needs.
* To contribute, as appropriate, to the ongoing development and design of the curriculum under the supervision of the Subject Coordinator.
* To make effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online provision including the use of Moodle and other ICT platforms and materials.
* To participate in a range of course administration duties, within required timescales, such as communicating with students, keeping attendance records, internal moderation, return of grades and responding to student feedback from course evaluation surveys.
* To attend and complete all necessary and mandatory UofG training (online or in person).
* To keep a record of hours worked and submit monthly pay claims to the WP&LLL office.
* To maintain a weekly record of student attendance and report this to the Subject Coordinator. Actively encourage the completion of student evaluation forms.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of WP&LLL.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Level 10 (Honours degree). May be working towards post-graduate qualification such as a Masters (Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 11) or PhD (Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12). Or Equivalent professional qualifications in relevant academic/research discipline, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Appropriate level of knowledge and expertise in the subject specialism.

Desirable:

B1 Professional teaching qualification or working towards one.

B2 Current knowledge of the Scottish HE system.

B3 Clear understanding of the pre-determined standards and regulations for the conduct and output of the role and/or team.

B4 Understanding of relevant health and safety policies and procedures relative to the role, and the quality outputs and standards required.

Skills

Essential:

C1 Excellent communication and language skills both oral and written.

C2 Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills.

C3 Good time and project management skills.

C4 Demonstrable ability to communicate and lead students at varied learning levels (pre university to postgraduate) in a friendly, student focussed manner.

C5 Demonstrate adaptability and contribution to change.

C6 Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with little supervision.

C7 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.

C8 Good timekeeping and administrative skills, enabling accurate and up-to-date record keeping.

C9 Ability to work flexible hours.

C10 Good IT skills relevant to teaching and administration.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Relevant experience of teaching in the subject area.

E2 Experience of designing course/teaching materials.

E3 Experience of providing student feedback.

E4 Experience of teaching/tutoring online.

Desirable:

F1 Relevant administrative experience (e.g., student support, course administration).

F2 Experience of working with learners in HEI's or F.E.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £33,482 - £37,174 per annum pro-rated to the number of hours assigned to, and worked by, you.

This post is open ended and part time for a minimum of 40 hours per annum. All hours are paid via timesheets.
