Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant role at Dudley Council – positioned at Hurst Green Primary School. This is a permanent, part-time role of 6.25 hours per week across 38 weeks per year. Start date: as soon as possible. Salary: £24,027 pro rata (hourly rate £12.45). Closing date: 24 September 2025. Interview: 1 October 2025.

Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated person to supervise and support pupils during the lunchtime period. You will supervise safety and welfare, follow verbal instructions, communicate effectively with staff and pupils, and promote fair treatment. The role involves leading and facilitating outdoor play and ensuring children are physically active during lunch breaks.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote safe and appropriate behaviours within the school grounds as directed by the Lead Lunchtime Supervisor.
* Engage with children through play and activities to make lunch breaks enjoyable and productive.
* Supervise lunchtime procedures and ensure smooth operation of the lunch period.
* Encourage healthy eating and good table manners.
* Assist with returning cutlery, trays, leftovers and refuse to appropriate collection points.
* Demonstrate and encourage sensible play and safe activities.
* Handle lunchtime equipment safely, storing it appropriately.
* Ensure children follow school lunchtime rules.
* Address accidents or spillages promptly to maintain safety.
* Seek guidance from the Lead Lunchtime Supervisor/Headteacher when needed to ensure procedures are followed.
* Undertake any necessary training to meet job expectations.
* Develop fair, respectful, and consistent relationships with children.
Qualifications And Experience
* Experience supervising pupils indoors and outdoors is desirable; prior lunchtime supervision is ideal.
* Ability to communicate with pupils with varying levels of understanding.
* Willingness to undergo required training; basic knowledge of first aid is desirable.
* Good communication and written skills.
