About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive 2nd Line IT Support Engineer with strong experience in Microsoft Azure, Intune, and Microsoft 365, particularly SharePoint and Entra management and administration. You will work closely with the IT team to resolve issues escalated from 1st Line Support and act as a senior escalation point for complex technical matters.
Location & Travel Requirements
This role is predominantly site-based, with regular field work to support the setup, maintenance, and closure of sites within a regional area of approximately 100 miles from Thame, Oxfordshire. The base office for this role is Thame, and there is a contractual requirement to attend our Portsmouth office several times per month. Occasional national travel to other company sites is also required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 2nd line support for escalated incidents and service requests, particularly those related to Azure, Intune, and Microsoft 365.
* Assist with remote site setup, relocation, and decommissioning, including Microsoft Teams Rooms configuration.
* Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
* Maintain Azure resources, including VMs, Azure AD, networking, storage, and security configurations.
* Administer Microsoft Intune for device compliance, application deployment, and endpoint security.
* Develop and administer PowerAutomate routines to support automation within the infrastructure.
* Contribute to IT projects, including cloud transformation, automation, and infrastructure upgrades, site installations, and partner/acquisition integrations.
* Maintain data integrity, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
* Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and industry standards.
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a 2nd line support role.
* Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Cloud technologies, including Autopilot, Intune, Entra ID, RBAC, and Conditional Access.
* Experience with Azure Virtual Machines, networking (VNETs, NSGs), and storage.
* Solid experience with Microsoft 365 administration and optimisation, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
* Endpoint management, including application packaging in Intune and patch management.
* Experience in PowerAutomate and PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
* Desire to progress relevant, role‑related certifications.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Microsoft 365 certifications (e.g., MD‑102, MS‑102, AZ‑104, AZ‑305, or AZ‑500).
* Familiarity with hybrid environments and on‑prem to cloud migrations.
* Experience with administration of Google Workspace.
