Job Description:
MCS Group is working with a large Public Sector Employer in County Antrim to recruit an Environmental Health Officer. This role offers a 4-day work week, a competitive salary, and the potential for a longer contract. The contract length is 9 months with a likelihood of extension. The salary is £38.5k (pro-rata).
Responsibilities include:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities related to environmental health, including public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Enforce legislation by serving statutory notices and preparing for legal proceedings.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health initiatives.
5. Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A degree in Environmental Health or relevant experience.
2. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
3. At least 1 year of experience in a public sector role.
4. Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation.
5. Stakeholder engagement skills.
6. A full, current driver’s license and access to transport.
