Job Title: Digital Education Officer
Reports To: Executive Director, Education & Digital Strategy
Location: Hybrid (Office & Remote) 4 days in the office required
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Job Purpose
The Digital Education Officer supports the delivery of IOA educational programmes by managing the student online experience and maintaining digital learning resources. The role ensures high-quality service to students and tutors through effective LMS administration, clear communication, digital content management, and smooth coursework processes. They are also responsible for managing short courses end-to-end and for exploring and managing opportunities in CPD.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Online Experience (Primary Area of Ownership)
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the IOA Classroom (Direct Student LMS) to ensure a seamless and consistent digital learning experience.
* Upload and maintain learning materials, handbooks, timetables, video content and course updates.
* Monitor student navigation issues, content gaps, and engagement patterns; recommend enhancements.
* Prepare and manage online onboarding for new cohorts, including welcome communications and guidance materials.
* Provide first-line troubleshooting for LMS access or content issues and escalate where needed.
2. Management of Digital Learning Resources
* Upload, organise and version-control digital learning assets, including tutorial recordings, blended-learning content and assignments.
* Support the consolidation and distribution of coursework, lab reports and project submissions.
* Maintain structured digital filing systems to ensure accuracy and traceability of resources.
3. Video Editing & Media Management
* Edit, encode, and upload distance-learning tutorial recordings.
* Manage the IOA video library on Vimeo and ensure content is correctly embedded within the LMS.
* Maintain consistent formatting and presentation standards for educational media.
4. Copywriting & Web Content Support
* Draft and proofread routine updates for course webpages, news items, and blogs.
* Update course content, event dates and general information on the website.
* Assist with articles for the Education Update in Acoustics Bulletin.
5. Barbour Portal & Online Library Support
* Create and manage Direct candidate access accounts for the Barbour Library.
* Provide guidance to students on navigating online library resources.
* Support delivery of short online workshops on accessing and using the portal.
6. Administration of Certificated Courses
* Generate and distribute registration links and maintain consolidated student lists.
* Arrange and support accreditation of centres, accreditation visits and associated reports and approval letters
* Prepare pre-defined results documentation and assist with processing moderated outcomes.
* Assist with examiner communication and basic document preparation.
7. Committee and Internal Support
* Provide administrative support to academic committees as required, including scheduling and drafting minutes
* Collaborate with internal teams, including Student Liaison, Marketing, Membership and Accounts.
* Support wider education operations during peak periods.
8. CPD Opportunities
* Explore opportunities for the IOA to work with industry on CPD.
* Develop and help deliver CPD as required.
