Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is currently seeking a qualified candidate to become our Grants Administrator!
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, allocating, and monitoring federal funding to localities and other state agencies.
- Providing technical assistance and consultation to programs.
- Offering guidance and training to grantees and emergency management professionals.
- Conducting site visits and maintaining communication to ensure compliance with grant rules and regulations.
- Developing resources, policies, and procedures as required for specific grants.
- Supporting the Infrastructure Branch Director during disaster operations at the Joint Field Office.
- Coordinating requests for public assistance, exploratory calls, recovery scoping meetings, and site visits.
This position requires frequent travel within the State of Virginia.
All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events as directed. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official EWP.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of grant management, accounting, business management, budget preparation procedures, and department administration.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policies, procedures, government guidance, and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret grant guidelines and contracts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare budgets, monitor fiscal actions, and complete financial reports and statements.
- Knowledge of post-disaster recovery programs.
- Proven ability to perform administrative tasks related to state and federal grant programs, manage shifting priorities and work independently.

The salary for this position is negotiable up to the maximum hiring range listed in this posting. Offers will not be made outside of the hiring range.
