Estate Maintenance The Role Charterhall Estate has an exciting opportunity for an Estate Maintenance team member to join us on a full-time permanent basis. We have an opportunity for a skilled ‘hands on’ person with a flexible and practical attitude. Reporting to the Estate Overseer the role will require a personable, energetic and practical person to, to undertake various maintenance tasks across the estate. The ideal candidate will have a ‘can do’, proactive and energetic approach towards work. We’re looking for someone who can bring a positive attitude, show initiative and take ownership of tasks whilst also being willing to support colleagues when needed. The job is varied and involves estate maintenance duties working both indoors and outdoors. You should have a passion for the outdoors that will contribute to the estate team’s objective of delivering an excellent estate environment for those who live and work in the locality. Experience in a similar position is desired, however full training will be provided. Personal Attributes We are seeking an honest, organised, tidy-minded and proactive team member who thrives in a hands-on, outdoor working environment A good interest & knowledge of the countryside is desirable A broad traditional estate skillset covering property repairs, operating agricultural machinery/ground-care equipment and good communication skills are desirable You will report to the Estate Overseer and also manage your day-to-day duties including property and grounds maintenance operations The estate is committed to helping its employees to improve their skills with relevant training The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and will be able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a team Essential Experience/Qualifications Full Drivers Licence valid in the UK An ability to multi-task, organise and problem solve A good aptitude for all-round general maintenance (DIY) tasks Ground care experience i.e. grass cutting, hedge cutting, strimming Experience that is Advantageous but Not Essential ATV driving Biomass Heating Systems Building Work Chainsaw Electrical Work Equine experience Fencing Forwarder Forestry Driving & Timber Handling Grass cutting Ghillieing & fishing Hedge/Tree Planting JCB/360 Excavator Operations Joinery Work Lorry Licence - up to 7.5 tonnes Painting Plumbing Property Drain-downs/Inspections/Inventories Sheep Handling Spraying (PA1, PA6) Strimming Team Leading/Working Telehandler Operations Trapping, pest & vermin control Tractor Driving Trailer Transportation of Livestock Trough & water connections maintenance (Scottish Water - Water ground worker course) Understanding of central heating systems & other household services Vehicle Maintenance Please support your application with a covering letter as to why the position is of interest to you and why you feel you have a compatible skill set or otherwise.
