Multi – Skilled Maintenance Technician
Location: Aycliffe
Pay Rate: £22.84/incl shift allowance
Hours: 39 hours/week
Contract: 6 months (with potential extension)
3 - Shift Pattern:
* Monday – Thursday: 6am–12pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am
* Friday: 6am–12pm / 12pm–6pm / 6pm–Midnight
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our 3-shift production team at 3M Aycliffe. This is a hands-on role ensuring our equipment and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will play a key role in minimizing downtime, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
* Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to restore production quickly.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical issues efficiently.
* Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and safety checks.
* Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify improvements in equipment performance and reliability.
* Adhere strictly to safety and operational standards, contributing to a safe working environment.
* Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and tool organization.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical or electrical repair.
* Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems, electrical circuits, motors, sensors, and PLCs.
* Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
* Knowledge of health & safety standards in a production environment.
* Ability to work effectively in a 3-shift rotation in a fast-paced environment.
* Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Preferred Background:
* Experience attending machine breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance in a production or manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of control systems, automation, and PLC programming basics.
Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or ONC.
* Relevant health & safety certifications desirable (e.g., IOSH, First Aid, Risk Assessment).
