About the Role:
As a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored learning experiences for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, and social, emotional, or mental health needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and targeted interventions.
Support pupils in developing communication, social, and emotional regulation skills.
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals.
Promote inclusion and help create a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils by following safeguarding and behaviour management procedures.
Requirements:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school or SEN provision.
Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
Excellent communication, patience, and empathy.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
