Purpose of Role The purpose of the role is to support the development of youth goalkeepers within the Women’s & Girls pathway by working within the full-time Girls Regional Program either in the North (Colliers Park) or in the South (USW-Dragon Parc) and being attached to either the U16 or U15 Youth National Team. We are seeking experienced and committed goalkeeper coaches who will play a pivotal role in contributing to the next generation of Welsh goalkeepers. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the national team pathway, ensuring goalkeepers are technically, tactically and mentally prepared to perform on the international stage. Working within our high-performance environment, the successful candidate will collaborate with the technical staff, analysts, performance and medical staff to lead an elite goalkeeping programme within the Women’s & Girls Talent Pathway. This is a part time role with an expected 15 hours a week during term time (training sessions are 3 evenings a week, Saturdays with matchdays on Sundays) as well as involvement on international youth camps. Key Areas of Accountability or Responsibility Girls Regional Program / General Contribute to a high-performance environment and culture that maximises the potential of players and the provision of talent available for selection at National Team level Plan and deliver goalkeeper sessions which are in line with the FAW game principles and the FAW GK game model. Requirement to attend training sessions 3 nights per week and on Saturdays plus a match on Sunday. Contribute to the development of a consistent goalkeeping philosophy and methodology for the Women’s & Girls Pathway teams. Work with individual players around their individual player development plans (IDP’s) during player reviews and within collective training sessions. Liaise with and work closely with coaching staff, and members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding player development, and prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. Create a safe environment for players and ensure adherence to FAW Safeguarding, policies, practices and procedures. Youth National Team Specific: Prior to each international camp, prepare a GK specific opposition analysis presentation highlighting their main attacking threats and style of play. Deliver set play sessions, both on and off the pitch. Contribute to the development of a consistent goalkeeping philosophy and methodology for the youth national teams. Provide educational support on camp to support the players and teams performance and preparation. Complete detailed GK specific post camp reports. Commit to one online meeting with Head of National Goalkeeping in the lead up to each international camp. PERSON SPECIFICATION We are looking for a dedicated individual who has a proven track record of developing young goalkeepers, a clear understanding of the modern goalkeeping trends and has the ability to work efficiently within a technical staff. Qualifications UEFA GK B licence (essential) UEFA B Licence (or working towards) (essential) UEFA GK A Licence (desirable) UEFA A Licence (desirable) Experience Experience of working within an academy goalkeeping department Use of performance analysis platforms Experience of designing and implementing a goalkeeper curriculum within a professional club is desirable. Personality Engaging personality and proactive with the ability to adapt to fresh challenges. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently. Good team player and with the ability to work on own initiative. Demonstrates curiosity and ambition to develop A positive, ‘can do’ attitude ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Due to the nature of the industry, the ideal candidate must be flexible in their availability as irregular hours and weekend work will be required for this role, such as working at home and away games. The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and must have appropriate safeguarding certifications.
