We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialist Grade Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in Rapid Access and General Gynaecology to join our dynamic Women's Health team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This exciting role offers a broad scope of clinical responsibilities, including leading 2WW Rapid Access Gynaecology Clinics, supporting General Gynaecology Clinics, and contributing to Elective Caesarean Section and Gynaecology Operating Lists. You'll also provide expert care in our Maternity Triage and Day Assessment Unit, supporting high‑risk women with compassion and clinical excellence.
As part of the senior registrar rota, you'll participate in the on‑call schedule with a fixed night every alternate week, ensuring continuity of care and leadership across services.

Main duties of the job
Rapid Access and General Gynaecology Clinics
* Deliver care in General Gynaecology and 2WW Rapid Access Clinics under the indirect supervision of a named consultant.
* Manage your own patient list, including timely clinic documentation, result follow‑up, and communication with GPs.
Maternity Triage and Day Assessment Unit
* Provide senior‑level expertise in the management of high‑risk women using the BSOTS framework for timely and standardised assessments.
* Support clinical decision‑making and care delivery in the Maternity Day Assessment Unit.
Elective Caesarean Sections and Gynaecology Theatres
* Assist in elective caesarean sections, covering pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative care.
* Participate in gynaecology theatre lists under consultant supervision.
* Inpatient follow‑up as required.
Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Teamwork
* Work closely with obstetricians, anaesthetists, midwives, and the wider healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews, offering clinical insight and collaborative decision‑making.
* Communicate effectively with patients and families, ensuring clarity and compassion in all interactions.
Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement
* Maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge in obstetrics and gynaecology, with a focus on 2WW and high‑risk obstetric care.
* Engage in clinical audits, and support the development of protocols and guidelines to enhance service delivery.

Job responsibilities
The post is for a Specialist Grade Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special interest in Rapid Access and General Gynaecology. The post holder will be expected to carry out a range of duties covering many aspects of Women's Health. The post holder will provide support to the clinical team by doing 2WW gynaecology clinics and general gynaecology clinics. The role involves being part of the senior registrar rota and participating in the on‑call rota with a fixed night every alternate week, as well as supporting our Elective caesarean section lists and gynaecology operating lists with a view to build expertise to lead these lists independently after a period of time. The role will also involve providing expertise to our high‑risk women in the Maternity Triage and Maternity Day Assessment Unit. The department is committed to support the successful candidate for a transition into a more senior role such as a consultant through training and nurturing.

Education and qualifications
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent
* GMC registration
* MRCOG or equivalent
* At least 12 years' post‑graduate experience out of which 6 years is in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Desirable
* Higher degree e.g. PhD or MD

* Broad experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Middle‑grade rota with specific experience in the NHS.
* Experience in doing general gynaecology and Rapid Access 2 Week Wait Clinics.
* Teaching experience / willingness to teach medical, nursing & other staff.
* Experience of audit / clinical research.
Desirable
* Undertaken a management course.
* Understanding of the NHS and its organisation.
