Packaging Technologist

About the Role
Working with Development Chefs, NPD Manager, Process Technologists, Commercial and Operations colleagues to manage new and packaging change projects including the development of new packaging for NPD, continuous improvement of structural packaging, artwork redesigns, amends and cost reduction exercises. Supporting the operations team at both sites on any day to day packaging issues and working collaboratively with other functions taking a hands‑on approach and providing support where required outside core functional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with NPD on any new product briefs by selecting packaging that is fit for purpose and in line with retailer guidelines & generate any packaging costings needed as part of the brief.
* Present packaging ideas to customers as and when required.
* Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure new products are launched accurately on time, including attending packaging trials & completing travel tests where necessary.
* Feed into factory specification for packaging.
* Complete any sample requests, including merchandising builds.
* Generate cutter guides for artwork generation.
* Facilitate and complete artwork process across own label and brand using Foods Connected & retailer platforms.
* Attend print runs where relevant.
* Supply accurate packaging details for retailer specification documentation, including requesting any updated BRC certificates.
* Data input on retailer platforms for packaging waste.
* Support the group procurement team on trials for any proposed cost savings.
Required Experience & Expertise
* At least 2 years' experience as a packaging technologist within the food industry.
* Knowledge of fish manufacturing and packing is preferable.
* Proven ability to work cross‑functionally to achieve business objectives.
* Must be able to work across multiple sites and be flexible about working hours, including early, late and weekend work when required.
* Understand different requirements of Branded Products vs own label and differing sign‑off processes.
* Be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to different retailer processes and systems.
* Must be able to manage projects and work to deadlines.
* A full driving licence.
