The Role You’ll Play

Work with consumers who have a mental health diagnosis whose severity is impairing their ability to be successful in home, school, work or their community and placing them at risk of hospitalization. Provide a planned break for consumers and their families in a safe environment. Work collaboratively with the consumer, their family and their treatment team to support them as they work toward achieve goals as prescribed by the person-centered plan.


The Day-to-Day


Essential Responsibilities

1. Monitor state approved budget on the Person-Centered Plan to ensure services are being provided as directed and approved by the treatment team.
2. Provide direct services in location most appropriate based on client need and document progress in each person’s chart. Locations may include the home, school, work, crisis/respite house or other community settings.
3. Provide one-to-one support to clients who are in crisis or who need a constant presence in order to remain stable and avoid a more restrictive placement.
4. Communicate with family members and other members of the treatment team the strengths and needs as well as progress or lack of progress toward strategies which reinforce desired behavior.
5. Responsible for the implementation of scheduled day activities such as exercise, socialization, personal goal setting, illness management and community outings as appropriate.
6. Review client incidents with supervisor and submit written report as outlined in policy and procedure.
7. Advocate for client rights and community integration. Preserve dignity and confidentiality of each person on caseload.
8. Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision and program staffing. Provide input to supervisors and other treatment team members regarding clinical and program issues.
9. Drive to community settings for the delivery of services and related program needs. This includes transporting the client in a personal or company vehicle.
10. Meet administrative and clinical documentation requirements both in terms of content and timeliness as outlined in agency policy.
11. Meet client care hour expectations as outlined in agency policy.
12. Work with direct supervisor and mobile crisis team to support 24-hour crisis coverage.
13. Pass crisis-specific training and utilize said training in responding to crisis situations.
14. Shifts will include weekend and overnight hours as well as on-call schedules.
15. Staff may be required to work holidays to assist mobile crisis.
16. Staff are required to maintain cleanliness of the crisis/respite house while working.
17. Enter and maintain clinical schedule in the electronic health record scheduler.
18. Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related specifically to position or to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials or participation in training events as approved by supervisor.
19. Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment.
20. Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
21. Monitor and assist with medication administration compliance as needed.
22. Perform verbal crisis de-escalation and, if necessary, physical behavior management interventions (such as therapeutic holds) using Pawnee’s approved crisis de-escalation program to maintain environmental safety for the consumer and others.
23. Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.


Requirements


Required:

* High School diploma or equivalent.
* 21 years-of-age or older
* Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
* Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data.
* A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance is maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
* Respite Providers in some regions will be required to provide crisis services and therefore will be required to work rotating shifts. There is the possibility of on call work as needed.


Preferred:

* Post-secondary education in a human services field and/or related work experience.
* Experience with Microsoft Office software.

All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with Pawnee policy.
