The role
Stocky's Breakfast and After School Club at Stockton Heath Primary School
'In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun'
We think Mary Poppins sums up working at Stocky's perfectly.
Due to our successful service expanding, Stocky's is on the lookout for two new superheroes who just cannot wait to get their hands covered in butter, a little bit of mud and possibly the odd piece of glitter
Who are we?
No one day is the same Our days are action-packed from the moment we open our doors to the minute we close them at the end of a busy day. From little giggles at breakfast time, to imaginary adventures in the quiet book corner to replicating internal football tournaments in the playground, we're a place where children can relax before and after the school day, knowing they are always safe to just be themselves.
Some people may think Stocky's is 'full on', however, we prefer the term 'organised creativity that is filled with laughter' delivered by our fabulous team of link club staff. Not all superheroes wear capes you know
Who are you?
You will know your Peppa Pig from your Disney Princesses, know a Marvel character when you see one, be good at remembering lots of children's names and be a dab hand at serving up sandwiches.
Ideally you will also:
* Have a full and relevant qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare or Playworker
* Have experience working with or volunteering with children (having your own children or grandchildren counts too)
* Possess the ability to laugh at yourself when you miss-kick a deciding goal at the penalty shoot-out in front of 20 children aged between 4 and 11
* Know the words and actions to heads, shoulders, knees and toes or other similar songs inside-out, upside-down, and back-to-front
* Be able to think on the spot with creative solutions, be a patient listener when needed and be great at problem-solving when someone wants a piece of toast and the person before them took the last slice
* Keep your cool when it's been wet playtime all day and all the children want is to let off some steam
* Know the difference between a dinosaur stomp and a dragon roar (bonus point if you can demonstrate both)
* Demonstrate superior negotiation skills for things that you may never even have imagined existed but are very real to our young people such as who gets to have their water in a yellow cup today
* Be available during term-time, Monday to Friday and be ready to leap into action
For our Manager role, we would also like you to have:
* Experience managing a team
* Experience and confidence in having those sometimes-awkward conversations with parents and staff
What will you do?
In a nutshell, you'll support our children before and after the school day. You'll do this by:
* Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive space where our children can thrive
* Overseeing activities, adventures, and perhaps the occasional 'off the cuff' dance contest
* Working with other likeminded people who are also passionate about supporting the development of our future electricians, doctors, teachers, accountants, early years practitioners or musicians
* Modelling outstanding behaviour to our children
* Supporting children to understand that it is ok to make mistakes which they can then learn from
* Ensuring our club's environment is clean and tidy
What's in it for you?
* Discount at Stocky's for your own children if you need it (because they deserve to join in the fun too)
* Free car parking
* Lots of time off over the summer holidays (if the children aren't at school then neither are you)
* Ongoing career development and training so you can enhance your superpowers further
What do we expect?
* Boundless energy, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for working with children
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and happiness of children
* Engagement with every child, celebrating their uniqueness and getting them to see their potential too
* Team spirit – we all do everything and anything to support each other
* Willingness to step in when needed
