A Snapshot of Your Day
The Project Designer is a central member of the mechanical design team, creating geometry and obtaining feedback from other team members to iterate to delivery of an optimized solution that meets project requirements. Mechanical design teams are dynamic in nature, with other specialists joining when needed, where you (as the Project Designer) are present in the team from problem definition through to solution implementation. In the Turbomachinery team you will have the opportunity to work on a range of gas turbine core components as part of a global team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. You will analyze customer needs and fleet reports to guide your team on potential design approaches.
2. You will collaborate with technical specialists in analytical and manufacturing fields to develop optimized design solutions that meet requirements.
3. Whenever possible, you will seek opportunities to build on prior knowledge when developing solutions.
4. You will assist your team in understanding how design decisions impact project and technical risks.
5. As your design solutions move toward production, you will participate in validation and verification activities.
6. In response to field failures, you will be involved in root cause analysis for components in which you have developed expertise.
What You Bring
7. You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and are a member of the "L'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec."
8. You are motivated by working as part of a multidisciplinary mechanical design team.
9. You have an interest in gas turbine technology and how it can be developed to remain relevant throughout the energy transition.
10. You are passionate about creating innovative engineering solutions.
11. Ideally, you have experience in the design of turbine airfoils and possess knowledge of associated manufacturing processes.
12. This position is in a French-speaking environment but requires fluency in English to comprehend documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to communicate with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
