Overview
These are responsibilities and requirements for a Home Delivery Driver role with our stores network. The role involves delivering products by van, providing excellent customer service, and supporting store operations.
Responsibilities
* Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver a variety of products to customers' doorsteps, on time and in good condition.
* Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean, roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before setting out on the road; driving safely in a variety of locations and conditions.
* Serving customers brilliantly, assisting with questions and keeping them informed of any delays.
* Learning to use new technology to do the job effectively; comfortable driving a large vehicle in locations from residential streets to country lanes.
* When not driving, helping maintain a smooth operation in the stock room or on the shop floor.
* Building knowledge about products, services and promotions to provide informed recommendations.
Qualifications
* Proficient in driving a large vehicle in different locations, including busy residential streets and narrow country lanes, delivering to a variety of residential properties.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment and using initiative to solve problems, often working alone but also as part of a team.
* Flexible and willing to learn across store operations; fully trained in a variety of skills to develop and try new things.
* Embraces using new digital tools and technology to perform the role. You must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
* Will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of the interview process; a driving assessment may be required on joining.
* Right to Work in the UK.
* Ability to work a variety of shifts across the week in three shift blocks: 05:00–13:00, 13:00–18:00, 18:00–22:30. Hours are scheduled to fit availability and may vary; there may be overtime opportunities, including supporting local Sainsbury's.
