Overview
As a recovery coach volunteer based at Substance to Solution in Kettering, you will be using your own experiences of recovery to help others and demonstrate change is possible.
You will be working alongside the recovery coordinators to promote recovery and support service users on a one-to-one basis, guiding them to achieve their goals and build recovery capital. This can include supporting them to attend a group or appointments, helping them to complete application forms and access external support from services such as housing, mutual aid, and community projects. You will also be making telephone calls to service users providing them with a listening ear, guidance, and support. You will be a positive role model to the service users motivating, encouraging, and inspiring them to reach their potential.
You will be provided with all the skills, training and support you will need to undertake the role.
Responsibilities
Key Activities:
* Work with individuals on a one-to-one basis.
* Take a focused approach to the people you are supporting, helping them to increase their confidence, and empowering them to achieve their goals.
* Gain an understanding of what support is available in your local community.
* Support service users to attend meetings/groups/appointments.
* Keep us updated by providing verbal and written feedback.
* Help service users to engage in recovery activities both within Change Grow Live and the wider community.
* Promote and support service user involvement.
