Chief Cardiac Physiologist (ECHO) – Fixed Term
Join us at Tabasco Event to support the Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust as a qualified Cardiac Physiologist covering maternity cover. You will work across two sites in Surrey, rotating through invasive services, pacemaker/ICD implant and follow‑up, 24/7 PPCI and the full technical echo service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide and lead the full technical echocardiography service, maintaining BSE accreditation and contributing to quality improvement.
* Perform and supervise transthoracic, transoesophageal, bubble, and stress echocardiograms; manage acquisition and reporting of studies.
* Prioritise and review inpatient echo requests, liaising with ward staff to ensure timely service delivery.
* Manage and troubleshoot echo equipment, maintain contractual agreements and stock levels, and resolve faults with company engineers.
* Support research studies and develop protocols to achieve IQIPS and BSE accreditation.
* Coordinate the echo rota, including weekend duty, and provide training, appraisal and professional development for junior staff.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, manage PRISM and PAS databases, and communicate effectively with practitioners, patients and technicians.
* Assist in the recruitment, retention and induction of echo department staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent (HTEC MPPM acceptable).
* RCCP registration required; BSE accreditation preferred, with funding for training.
* Extensive experience in invasive cardiac physiologies, including pacemaker/ICD, CRT, and remote monitoring.
* Post‑graduate training in cardiac oximetry (CRM – HRUK/IBHRE) essential.
* Competence in emergency response and a proactive approach to continuous professional development.
* Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
