Our client, a trusted UK Logistics partner offering freight forwarding, customs clearance and supply chain solutions are looking for a Trainee Customs Clearance Operator to join their team, based at offices in Colchester, Essex.

Main Purpose of the Trainee Customs Clearance Operator:
Reporting to the Sea Freight Supervisor/ Customs Supervisor, you would oversee the activity of focusing on UK customs clearance processes. Along with increasing profit and job numbers focusing on the ocean freight services and UK customs clearances. You will need to work closely with the team to arrange and monitor both export and import shipments by sea services, you will liaise with suppliers and partners to deliver a high level of service to our clients, so their expectations are met and where possible exceeded.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Trainee Customs Clearance Operator:
* Maintain and develop relationships with clients.
* To meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests.
* Monitor supplier performance.
* Good file management and attention to detail.
* Prepare quotations in accordance with client’s request.
* Assisting colleagues during staff absences / holidays including imports/exports
* Encourage and implement “Best Practice” across the department.
* Develop and maintain a commercial and “can do” attitude with all within the department and company.
* To react promptly and proactively to client requests
* Always provide excellent customer service
* To ensure deadlines are kept by monitoring suppliers
* To develop a good working relationship with your client accounts.
* Maintain files in accordance with procedure
* To achieve operational standards
* Ensure all shipments are costed and invoiced in accordance with company policy
* Support senior management as and when required.
* Ensure invoice queries are solved promptly.
