About The Role
We have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our International Seafood Manufacturing Site in Grimsby.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Morrisons Manufacturing Health & Safety Strategy within the sites to drive Health & Safety standards today, supporting our colleagues to prioritize safety. You will focus on integrating with the site leadership team to ensure compliance with Health & Safety, support environmental standards, and promote high colleague engagement. Additionally, you will help drive continual improvements in safety culture, policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
The Role Will Also Be Responsible For The Following
* Ensure site management, colleagues, and visitors comply with legislation and Morrisons policies on safe working practices.
* Support site to improve Health & Safety culture and reduce risks by engaging with colleagues at all levels.
* Document and communicate updates to the Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems.
* Act with integrity to promote a positive Health & Safety culture.
* Ensure compliance with operational standards, policies, and procedures.
* Oversee the site’s Health & Safety Management System, including risk assessments, policies, procedures, and audits.
* Manage external contacts such as authorities, legal advisors, and consultants.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and occupational health cases, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
* Support environmental management, permits, and authority engagement (e.g., effluent, watercourse, spillages).
* Conduct independent Health & Safety audits and support corrective actions.
* Handle investigations into accidents, incidents, and whistle-blowing reports, reporting to HSE as necessary.
* Escalate high-risk issues and incidents to management.
* Manage enforcement contacts and resolve challenges.
* Monitor and maintain safe working practices and workplace hygiene.
* Ensure all colleagues are trained appropriately in Health & Safety.
* Build relationships across sites, sharing best practices and coaching colleagues to prioritize safety.
About You
Skills and experience required include:
* NEBOSH General Certificate with extensive Health & Safety experience, preferably in warehousing, logistics, distribution, or FMCG manufacturing. A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is highly desirable.
* Experience in a fast-paced operational environment managing multiple stakeholders and delivering results.
* Ability to build relationships, share best practices, and support colleagues proactively.
* Experience in driving KPIs to improve audit scores, accident rates, and reduce near misses.
* Understanding the impact of unsafe practices on stock and service.
* Knowledge of the wider supply chain and safe working practices; confident in implementing safe systems of work, risk assessments, and compliance.
