ConsultantPsychiatrist Exeter West CMHT & Place of Safety
DevonPartnership Trust invites applications for a Consultant Psychiatrist to jointhe Exeter West Community Mental Health Team (CMHT, 6PAs) and the Place ofSafety (Wonford House Hospital, 4PAs) in the General Adult Directorate. Thisfull-time post supports patients aged 18-65, though part-time/job-shareapplicants are welcome.
TheTrust, based in the beautiful county of Devon, offers a great work-life balancesurrounded by stunning landscapes. We support agile working, including hybridremote arrangements, and offer extra programmed activities for research,teaching, medical management, and other interests.
The postis based at Wonford House, Exeter, where you'll have a private office, ITaccess, and dedicated secretarial support. You will oversee a caseload of 300patients, conducting 12-15 medical assessments per week. Additionally, you willprovide Responsible Clinician cover for the Devon-wide Place of Safety,supporting detained patients awaiting placement.
This rolesuits first-time NHS consultants, experienced psychiatrists, or internationalapplicants, with Approved Clinician status preferred but training provided ifrequired.
We offer mentorship,peer support, electronic record systems, and 2.5 SPAs weekly for professionaldevelopment.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicantwill offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients being managed by theExeter West CMHT, as well as other expert clinical services in support ofpatients and their families/carers as necessary. They will also provideleadership to the wider CMHT and participate in ensuring the care flow ofpatients through the Trust is efficient and patient centred.
Thesuccessful applicant will also provide Responsible Clinician cover for patientsin the Wonford House Place of Safety, for patients already detained undersection 2 or section 3 who remain in POS for few days while awaiting a bed tobecome available in another inpatient unit. This includes initial assessment,followed by treatment planning, and mental health act responsibilities, such assection 17 leave arrangements. The average length of stay in POS for thesepatients is 2-3 days. The amount of time that will be needed weekly to supportthese patients will be based on need, according to the number of patients inPOS waiting for a bed elsewhere. Three DCC PAs are allocated to this activitywhich amounts to 12 hours per week. It may be necessary that the Consultantwill need to attend the POS daily, in working weekdays, for 1-2 hours
You will take part in on-callrota and other consultants from the area will be expected to providecross-cover for leave.

Qualifications
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post.
* Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
