Overview
The post holder assists the Chief Technician and Senior Technicians in the day-to-day running of the Sterile Production Unit, the Central Intravenous Additive Service (CIVAS) and the Non-Sterile Manufacturing Department, and in the training of less experienced staff working in the units. The department is split into four teams: Sterile Batches, Chemotherapy, Non-Sterile and CIVAS. The post holder will be a member of one of these teams and will rotate between teams as required. It is the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that all products manufactured comply with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, COSHH and Health and Safety Directives.
The post-holder will deputise for the Senior Technician in their absence. The post-holder is expected to develop and maintain personal expertise in all technical aspects of manufacture and extemporaneous preparation undertaken within the production unit at The Royal Free Hospital, in particular aseptic preparation. They will be responsible for ensuring their own accreditations are completed and re-validated within the agreed time frames.
Responsibilities

* Rotate between the four teams (Sterile Batches, Chemotherapy, Non-Sterile and CIVAS) as required.
* Ensure all products manufactured comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), COSHH and Health and Safety Directives.
* deputise for the Senior Technician in their absence.
* Develop and maintain personal expertise in all technical aspects of manufacture and extemporaneous preparation, particularly aseptic preparation.
* Ensure own accreditations are completed and re-validated within agreed time frames.
Qualifications and Expectations
* Willingness to develop and maintain expertise across the production unit and to undertake required accreditations.
* Ability to work across multiple teams and to deputise when needed.
* Experience or exposure to aseptic preparation is beneficial.
