We are seeking a highly motivated and committed Midwife with an interest in ultrasound to train as a Midwife Sonographer. This is an excellent career development opportunity with a permanent position as a Midwife Sonographer upon successful completion of training. The successful candidate will join our friendly and supportive team in providing fertility, early pregnancy, and obstetric ultrasound examinations.
Main duties of the job
The Trainee Midwife Sonographer will work a minimum of 30 hours per week within the Maternity Ultrasound Department during training, including a university day in term time.
The post holder is expected to undertake the Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound, starting in September 2025. The course duration is a minimum of 1 year.
The Trainee will be assigned a dedicated mentor during their training period.
Upon successful completion of the Certificate/Diploma, the Trainee Sonographer will undertake a Preceptorship to consolidate their practice.
A minimum of 30 hours per week as a Band 7 Midwife Sonographer will be offered, with a commitment to work in the department for at least 2 years post-qualification.
There will be a requirement to work across multiple sites.
