About the role
As one of our Technician Specialists, you'll have the unique opportunity to bring our distinctive John Lewis service directly to our customers' doors. You will install products they love into their homes, such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets, as part of a 2-person delivery crew. Additionally, you'll share your expertise to coach and develop other delivery drivers on home installations and customer service skills, acting as a role model for the great service John Lewis is known for.
Note: Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be 18 years or older.
Key Responsibilities
* Represent the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service as your top priority.
* Coach, develop, and assess your delivery colleagues, providing them with the knowledge to perform at their best.
* Assist in loading your vehicle with the day's deliveries, working alongside the warehouse team.
* Show respect and courtesy for customers' homes and handle unexpected situations to find the best solutions.
* Install products efficiently and demonstrate their use to customers post-installation.
* Stay updated on new products and technologies to perform your role effectively.
* Maintain a safe working environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Previous installation experience, with additional training provided through our installer accreditation.
* Manual C1 UK driving license (max 6 points).
* DCPC and Tachograph Card.
* Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
* Experience in a customer-facing role.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and face-to-face.
* Physical capability to handle large items such as sofas, white goods, furniture, and mattresses.
* Good understanding of technology.
Work Schedule
Full-time, 41 hours per week, typically 4 days a week, Monday to Saturday, with hours from 10:30 to 21:30 on weekdays and 07:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays.
