Overview
As a Procurement Engineer / Senior Procurement Engineer, you will play a key role in new product introduction and lifecycle cost optimisation. Acting as a trusted interface between Procurement, R&D and suppliers, you'll combine technical insight with commercial thinking to shape value-driven, sustainable sourcing solutions that support our innovative medical technologies.
Responsibilities
* Partnering with Procurement and R&D to deliver holistic product cost optimisation across all phases of the product lifecycle
* Leading and contributing to Cost & Value Engineering activities, including cost analysis, benchmarking, target costing and should-cost modelling
* Supporting product design through early supplier involvement, cost estimation and technology-specific recommendations
* Providing fact-based cost and value analysis to support supplier negotiations
* Developing, improving and standardising cost and value optimisation methods
* Contributing to procurement transformation initiatives, using digital tools and data to enable smarter, more efficient ways of working
* Building open, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across a global network
Qualifications
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a comparable technical discipline
* Experience in engineering and/or procurement, with exposure to supplier collaboration and cost optimisation
* Strong understanding of electro-mechanical components and manufacturing technologies (e.g. sheet metal, machining, casting, mechanical assemblies, cooling systems or composites)
* Proven capability in cost structure analysis, cost drivers and target costing
* Familiarity with cost calculation and DFMA tools (such as TcPCM / PerfectProCalc or similar)
* A structured, analytical approach combined with curiosity and openness to learning new technologies
* Clear communication, effective presentation skills and the ability to influence through collaboration
* A proactive, accountable mindset with the confidence to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis (typically 20%)
