The Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Senior or Principal Transport Planning Consultant to join their expanding team in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative and cost-effective transport and highways solutions for a wide range of development projects.
The role is ideal for a motivated, proactive professional who enjoys managing projects, building client relationships, and contributing to the success of a supportive and dynamic consultancy team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver transport planning projects from feasibility through to post-planning stages.
Prepare fee proposals, project briefs, and manage resources effectively.
Produce high-quality technical reports, including Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and Transport Strategies.
Undertake and oversee data analysis using relevant software (e.g. TRICS, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY).
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
Monitor budgets, timescales, and quality standards across multiple projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
About You:
Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in development-related transport planning.
Strong technical skills and experience with TRICS, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY (GIS or AutoCAD skills advantageous).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Experience engaging with local authorities and stakeholders.
A strong understanding of planning policy, DMRB, and Manual for Streets.
