The Minster Police protect the people, building and assets of York Minster. The Minster has had resident police officers since the liberty granted by King Edward I, and as such it has the oldest police team in the UK if not the world. The Minster Police even provided the inspiration for Robert Peel’s Metropolitan Police Force. The Minster Police are present on the Minster Precinct 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If the answer is “yes” you could be perfect for the role of Police Officer at York Minster.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a front facing, security conscious role. They will also have demonstrable experience of report writing, IT skills and an awareness of the importance of Health and Safety in public spaces.
Appointments are made to the Probationer Officer role. You will then follow a comprehensive training and mentoring programme, which develops your knowledge, skills and experience. Once you meet agreed goals, you will become an attested Cathedral Constable and will then progress to an Experienced Officer level of responsibility and your salary will be increased accordingly.
