Grade/Salary: Grade 5 (SCP 37-41) £48,226.39 - £52,413.22
Term: Full-Time – Permanent
Reporting to: Senedd Coordination and Policy Manager
Based: One Canal Parade, Dumballs Road, Cardiff with some flexibility to work from home and remotely in accordance with our Agile Working Policy.

The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) is looking for a driven and insightful Senior Policy Officer to join our Corporate Policy and Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence national policy, support local government voices, and work at the heart of public service improvement.
What you’ll do:
1. Develop high-quality policy briefings and advice for senior leaders and elected members
2. Lead on research, consultation responses and policy analysis
3. Engage with Welsh Government, the Senedd and key stakeholders
4. Support national meetings, committees and public affairs activity
5. Translate complex policy into clear, actionable insights

6. Strong experience in a policy or public sector environment
7. Excellent analytical, writing and stakeholder engagement skills
8. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver at pace
9. Knowledge of local government and the wider policy landscape
