* Support and maintain transmission networks using Ethernet, MPLS, SDH/SONET, and related technologies.
* Provide technical support across systems including PA, Information Displays, Radio, CCTV, Emergency Points, and Telephony.
* Investigate and diagnose faults, failures, and performance issues, providing engineering insight where safety or reliability is impacted.
* Support design reviews, supplier evaluations, and technical acceptance of new or modified assets.
* Work collaboratively with DLRL, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to define specifications and system improvements.
* Review design and assurance submissions to ensure safe integration of new assets across the project lifecycle.
* Support continuous improvement of standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
* Provide technical support to the wider Telecommunications team as required.
What You’ll Need
* Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
* Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IET) or working towards Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) status.
* Basic knowledge of railway telecommunications systems, interfaces, testing, and maintenance.
* Understanding of transmission and network technologies.
* Ability to produce technical documentation such as reports, procedures, and specifications.

* Flexibility to support shift‑based operational environments.
* Practical skills in installation and wiring.
* Experience with LAN/MAN/WAN networks, Ethernet, MPLS, IP technologies, SDH/SONET.
* Exposure to Windows, Linux, servers, virtualisation, or cloud environments.
* Understanding of cyber security principles within OT or rail systems.
