Heatherton School is an independent preparatory school for girls aged 3-11, and part of Berkhamsted Schools Group. The school educates 145 pupils within a close-knit, dynamic and forward-thinking community that seeks to stretch both pupils and staff. Role and Leadership
The Head will provide visible leadership to the Heatherton community, reporting to the Principal, with termly interaction with the Group’s Board. The Head operates as part of the Group senior management team, working alongside a number of senior colleagues from the other schools and central office team.
The successful candidate will have proven senior leadership experience as a Head or Deputy Head in a successful preparatory or junior school. The role demands genuine appreciation of girls' education during these crucial formative years, understanding of the benefits of single-sex education, and commitment to academic excellence within a nurturing environment. Candidates must value the autonomy of leading a school whilst recognising the security and advantages of working within a larger educational group.
