Devon County Council is seeking to appoint a Head Accountant to work across the Council supporting our change and improvement agenda. Working in partnership with senior service managers to improve and develop new ways of working to deliver better outcomes and improved efficiency.
It is an exciting time to be joining our finance team, we have several key transformation projects under way which will define our service for years to come. As a senior member of the team, you will have a critical role in shaping and leading our service, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose and remain relevant in an ever-changing environment.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance and Public Value, this is a role that will present the opportunity to create real impact. If you are an inspiring leader and an effective communicator, we want to hear from you.
You will be able to balance the demands of business partnering with the responsibilities of financial stewardship to help shape the future and promote our next stage of development.
You will be a confident financial leader with excellent IT and analytical skills that support your core accountancy knowledge and commercial acumen. An awareness of the dynamics and challenges faced by the local government is desirable, as is an understanding of public sector financial reporting regimes, but not essential.
