Night Nurse Manager - Mental Health Nurse
Working hours: 37.62 hours (Monday - Sunday rota)
Responsibilities: The Night Nurse Manager will oversee hospital operations during the night, ensuring appropriate staffing levels on all wards with the right skill mix, supporting and advising colleagues, monitoring standards of care, and ensuring adherence to ACG standards and policies. The role involves taking on night shift management, supporting other wards with breaks, and providing effective leadership. Management activities are to be conducted from the bleep holder’s ward, including handovers, incident reporting, staffing adjustments, and incident documentation.
Key duties include:
1. Managing staffing levels and skill mix across wards.
2. Monitoring and ensuring standards of care.
3. Completing and sharing night reports with relevant management.
4. Visiting wards to observe and ensure staff alertness.
5. Handling incident reports, seclusions, and other documentation.
6. Coordinating with ward teams and external services as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Legal right to work in the UK.
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse with active NMC registration.
* Knowledge of NMC standards, the Mental Health Act, and professional practices.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in mental health; experience in CAMHS preferred.
* Experience as a CTL/deputy ward manager or similar role is desirable but not essential.
