The Role:
We are seeking a proactive Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in driving outstanding, person-centred services.
As a visible leader for our seniors, coordinators, and support teams, you will ensure safe day-to-day operations, compliance, and a culture of kindness and accountability.
This position is ideal for someone with supported living or step-down experience who’s ready to make a bigger impact in community care.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership – Oversee daily service delivery, rota and capacity planning, safe staffing; deputise for the Registered Manager and act as Responsible/Acting Manager when required.
Quality & Compliance – Support audits, spot checks, and action plans against CQC requirements.
Care Governance – Ensure robust assessments, risk management, and regularly reviewed care plans (including crisis/PBS where relevant).
Safeguarding – Act as a first point of escalation; conduct incident reviews and embed MCA/DOLs and trauma-informed practice.
People Leadership – Supervise, coach, and appraise staff; support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training.
Clinical & MDT Liaison – Attend MDTs, discharge planning, and commissioner reviews; provide timely feedback and ensure follow-through.
Stakeholder Engagement – Build strong relationships with families, health and social care partners, schools, and external agencies.
Performance & KPIs – Monitor visit compliance, outcomes, incidents, and medication audits.
Service Development – Support mobilisation of new packages and continuous improvement projects, including digital care systems.
Skills & Experience:
Experience: Community care experience desirable; mental health (adult or CYP) inpatient/step-down or similar valued. Adults and children’s services experience is a plus.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of CQC, safeguarding, risk, and person-centred planning. Comfortable with digital care records and EMAR.
Skills: Confident communicator, role-model leader, calm under pressure, highly organised.
Values: Compassionate, trauma-informed, dignity and rights-focused.
Other: UK driving licence desirable; ability to travel for community visits.
