Contract : Full time (temporary to permanent contract)
We are currently working with a school in Plymouth who are looking to recruit a SEN teacher to support their current staff and students. The school is designated for pupils with a broad range of needs including learning difficulties and disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism. The flexible curriculum provided has a heavy focus on creativity and allows students to gain a variety of experiences which form pivotal points of their education.
The school itself has facilities including a sports hall, kitchen, engineering classes, art workshop a school shop and much more that all students have access to daily. If successful, this role could also include working 1:1 or in small groups with therapeutic interventions. The positions we have available are starting as soon as possible. About the school:
Students aged 11-19 years old
The majority of students have additional needs, autism, speech language and communication difficulties and some behavioural needs
Small classes with teaching assistants to support the class teacher
Team teacher behaviour management principles
Focus on cognition and learning
OFSTED= OUTSTANDING
Key responsibilities:
Teaching small groups of students under the instruction of the class teachers.
Working closely with the SENCO and senior leaders
Planning and delivering lessons
Meeting the individual needs of the students
Monitoring behaviour.
Helping to develop social skills and communication and providing feedback to SLT.
Applicants holding a qualification in Childcare are welcome as are Teaching Assistants with experience in school settings. Relevant experience working in a care setting is also acceptable.
