Centralised Repeat Prescription Administrator
You are organised, detail-focused, and passionate about supporting high-quality patient care behind the scenes. We’re looking for a proactive and reliable individual to join our dedicated team at Hemsby Surgery as a Centralised Repeat Prescription Administrator.
In this key administrative role, you’ll be at the heart of our prescription services ensuring requests are processed safely, efficiently, and in line with NHS protocols. You'll collaborate with prescribers, pharmacists, reception teams, and patients to deliver a seamless, professional service that truly makes a difference.
Main Duties
* Process repeat prescription requests accurately and in line with Practice protocols and procedures.
* Ensure safe and timely issuing of prescriptions.
* Respond to patient and pharmacy queries regarding prescription status.
* Support medication monitoring tasks, including blood tests and quality frameworks like QOF.
* Work closely with prescribers, pharmacists, dispensary staff, and other healthcare professionals.
* Provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
* Assist with audits and undertake mandatory training as required.
Job Responsibilities
* Ensure repeat prescriptions are processed in accordance with the Practice Repeat Prescription Protocols & Standard Operating Procedures in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
* Safeguard prescription issue, ensuring that no repeat prescription is issued outside of Practice Protocols.
* Assist with medicines monitoring, blood tests, QOF and other quality improvement work.
* Respond to patient and pharmacy queries about the progress of their repeat prescription requests, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
* Liaise with relevant internal and external staff requesting prescriptions to facilitate a good working relationship across the interface.
* Provide courteous and effective customer service to all patients and external customers.
* Work under the direction of the Prescription Team Manager.
* Undertake audit as required to help inform future working practices.
* Complete required mandatory and other Practice training.
Person Specification – Knowledge
* Highly motivated and willing to undertake training to update & maintain skills. Awareness of accountability of own role & role of others within the Practice.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proactive problem solving.
* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
* Ability to work within a team.
* Ability to work in a busy environment.
* Prioritise a varied workload.
* Reliable with a good attendance record.
* Experience in working in Primary Care, preferably with previous experience of Prescription administration.
* Experience of GP SystmOne computer software.
* Experience of Microsoft.
