Salary: £31,412 FTE. This position is for 10 hours per week; the pro-rata salary will be £7,835. Permanent position, part-time (10 hours per week). Based in Fareham.
Role
YOU Counselling Service
YOU is a registered charity providing care, support and advice for vulnerable people. The counsellor will hold a client one-to-one counselling caseload, provide help line support and develop and facilitate regular therapeutic psycho-educational group sessions. You will work with others to develop a team of Peer Volunteers who will co-facilitate therapeutic group sessions. You will deliver therapeutic sessions and groups in a range of geographical locations, ensuring work is carried out within contractual requirements as directed by the Clinical Lead and Team Manager in line with national guidelines and local best practice. You will work with adults and children and young people with a range of experiences and presenting issues such as sexual and/or domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse and other life-limiting issues, with caseloads agreed from within this cohort.
Responsibilities
* Follow YOU Counselling Centres (YCC) policies and procedures
* Work with an agreed client cohort and ensure risk-led triage and service allocation
* Deliver counselling sessions and facilitate therapeutic groups; be available for help line duty
* Create a therapeutic environment across locations to ensure access for all clients
* Manage diary in line with contract specifications, KPIs and timescales
* Deliver timely, safe, appropriate service delivery and data capture in systems (e.g., Advice Pro) to meet contractual requirements
* Complete individual safety and support plans; manage risk appropriately
* Support unallocated clients; maintain contact and manage risk progression
* Share expertise with colleagues and volunteers; be flexible for on-call rota
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver best outcomes
* Attend team meetings and clinical supervision; pursue ongoing learning and development
* Comply with safeguarding procedures and national best practice
* Undertake other reasonable tasks related to role to ensure outstanding, client-led service
Qualifications & Requirements
* Counselling qualification at Diploma level or above; minimum one year experience in a client-centred approach
* Current BACP membership and commitment to the BACP Ethical Framework
* Experience supporting women, men or children and young people who have experienced trauma (e.g., domestic abuse, sexual violence, substance misuse, mental health) while maintaining professional boundaries
* Experience undertaking strengths, needs & risk assessments
* Experience with multi-agency and partnership working
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Experience delivering client-centred services and working within a team
* Knowledge of the impact of sexual violence and safeguarding and confidentiality best practice
* Knowledge of criminal and civil proceedings related to sexual violence
* Commitment to diversity and inclusion; culturally sensitive practice
* IT skills including Microsoft Office; data entry and basic administrative tasks
* Ability to self-reflect and improve practice through training and review
* Flexible hours including evenings and weekends when required; willingness to participate in a help line service
* Ability to travel within identified contract area for training and meetings
* Car driver with use of a car for work purposes
