Pharmacy Technician – Part Time (Permanent)
Location: Gloucester
Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week
Salary: £39,908 FTE
Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting a Pharmacy Technician for a permanent, part-time role in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity for a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician looking to make a meaningful impact within a specialist neurological care environment.
This role offers the chance to drive excellence in medication management, contribute to clinical governance, and support people with complex neurological needs through collaborative, multidisciplinary working.
The Role
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with GP services, nursing teams, and an external pharmacy provider to ensure medications are ordered, dispensed, and received on site in a timely and safe manner. You will provide pharmacy expertise across departments, supporting both clinical and non-clinical teams throughout the working week.
Key responsibilities include maintaining safe medication storage, acting on safety alerts, participating in audits, and supporting continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Working alongside the GP service, multidisciplinary team, and pharmacy provider to ensure timely medication ordering and supply
* Acting on medication safety alerts to prioritise patient safety
* Ensuring secure storage of medications in line with policies and guidance
* Attending monthly multidisciplinary meetings and contributing as appropriate
* Contributing to clinical governance and supporting changes to practice or policy
* Escalating quality concerns or incidents in line with procedures
* Maintaining professional standards and compliance with GPhC guidance
* Providing visibility and pharmacy technician support across departments
* Delivering staff training related to medication management
* Participating in audits to support service development and improvement
* Liaising with pharmacy and nursing teams to enhance service delivery
Where You’ll Be Working
You will be based at a specialist neurological care centre on the outskirts of town, within easy commuting distance of Gloucester, Cheltenham, and surrounding villages. The service provides 24-hour nursing and therapy support for individuals with long-term neurological conditions, focusing on slow-stream rehabilitation, quality of life, and maximising functional ability.
Requirements
To be successful in this Pharmacy Technician job in Gloucester, you will need:
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians (or BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences)
* A minimum of two years’ supervised, practical experience in a pharmacy setting
* Strong communication and collaborative working skills
* A commitment to patient safety, governance, and service improvement
