Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon (Full and Part-time)
Stanley House Veterinary Group
Are you an enthusiastic Vet looking to take the next step in your career? Would you like work hours that suit your lifestyle? Here at Stanley House Vets we're looking for vets like you to join our fantastic team…
About us:
We are a VetPartners practice, with our main hospital in Colne; a consulting branch in Barnoldswick; and a consulting and operating branch in Burnley. Established in 1911, we offer high quality, first opinion veterinary care in the stunning area of East Lancashire. Our small animal team have a high and varied caseload so we are looking for an experienced vet to further support and expand our in-house services, with particular opportunities for those with surgical or orthopaedic interests.
There is a varied high caseload allowing for progression in many areas of veterinary practice.
The Team:
We have a lovely, well established, friendly and supportive team.
It is very important to us that our team feel happy and supported at work. We have regular wellbeing meetings and are constantly looking at how we can improve and help our colleagues feel appreciated and part of the team.
As a practice we love to have social events. Over the last few years, we have taken part in the annual charity Pendle Pub Walk covering 13 miles and visiting a few pubs for refreshments on the way Many of our employees enjoy taking part in activities, often raising money for various charities, we also love to volunteer at various community events such as career days and colour runs.
The Role:
The full-time rota is based on a 40hr week with 1 in 8 on-call, and 1 weeknight on-call every 2 weeks. Our loyal clients really appreciate our in-house out of hours service. We understand how this can impact on vets and do ensure on call is kept to a minimum and vets have the following 24 hours off after being on call. Part time roles and flexible working options will also be considered.
To further improve overnight care and provide major support to our vets, we have a team of RVN's who work through the night. This makes being on call a lot less arduous for the on-call vet and greatly improves in-patient care.
This is remunerated with generous time off in-lieu:
– Monday/Tuesday off after working the weekend (Friday night & Sunday night on-call)
– Friday off after working a Saturday on call
– The following day off after your weeknight on call
On site accommodation is available for those that choose to stay at the practice, this is a private flat with showering and TV facilities.
Some further details:
* The rota is on a continuous 8 week cycle allowing you to plan your life ahead.
* We have an OOH telephone answering service so you will not be taking calls directly.
* We have 3 dedicated night RVNs (2 of whom have ECC certificates) who take the phones overnight for our on-call vets.
* Recent graduates will be given veterinary back-up OOH. There is CCTV so you can remotely keep an eye on inpatients.
* Full time vets involved in the out of hour's service do work a variation of 3, 4 and 5 day weeks throughout the 8 week rolling rota. If you are a full time vet doing on call you will only have two 5 day weeks in every 8 weeks. However, many of our vets choose to have extra days off. We are very open to suggestion and happy to discuss what hours may suit you.
