Rotational Physiotherapist

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest Trusts in the UK. The therapy department is a friendly and supportive environment to develop clinical and project skills.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated physiotherapist with excellent communication skills and an innovative and flexible approach. You must be a team player with a broad range of experience.

The role involves a 6-month rotation across specialities including Critical Care, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Oncology & Haematology, General Medicine, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Rehabilitation and Neurology, across sites such as University College Hospital, UCH at Westmoreland Street, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and St Pancras Rehab Unit (CNWL). Rotations may include 7-day services or weekend and on-call rosters.


Main duties of the job

* Provide high quality physiotherapy including assessment, treatment and advice to patients with various needs in a variety of settings.
* Work collaboratively with the MDT to deliver patient-centred care.
* Participate in the Band 5 Rotational Scheme, six monthly rotations in areas such as Respiratory (Critical Care, Acute Medicine and Surgery), Neurology (HASU, ABIU, Neurosurgery, neuro-medicine and neuro-rehabilitation), Musculoskeletal (Outpatients, Orthopaedics, Acute orthopaedic outpatients), Rehabilitation and Medicine (Oncology, Haematology, Elderly Care, Infectious Diseases, Exercise Post and Intermediate Care).
* Participate in weekend working, on-calls and 7-day services as appropriate for the rotation.


Person Specification


Knowledge & Qualifications

* Physiotherapy HPC Registration (actual or pending)
* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
* CSP Membership (actual or pending)


Experience

* Experience of working in a Health or Social Care setting, including as a student.
* Completion of core student placements: Respiratory and ITU, Neurology/Rehabilitation, Care of the Older Person and Musculoskeletal Outpatients.
* Knowledge of general conditions seen in Physiotherapy including respiratory, outpatient/orthopaedics, neurological and care of the older person.
* Previous experience of working as a Band 5/student in cardio-respiratory.


Skills & Abilities

* Excellent communication & customer care, able to communicate well with patients, carers, physiotherapists and other health-care professionals.
* Ability to present written and spoken English clearly and logically, meeting documentation guidelines.
* Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate.
* Ability to work independently when on call.
* Ability to recognise own learning needs and self-manage learning.
* Active participation in the appraisal process, identifying learning needs and responding to feedback.
* Understanding of the roles of professional organisations, NHS and social care systems.
* Participation in multi-disciplinary team working.


Quality and Service Improvement

* Awareness of current professional practice and new research developments.
* Understanding of clinical governance and implications for physiotherapy services, including audit and service development experience.
* Engaged and active in training and development.
* Understanding of risk management and incident reporting.
* Competent IT skills and ability to learn new programmes.
* Ability to use electronic health records.


Other requirements

* Work pattern: participation in weekend, on-call and/or 7-day services as required by the rotation.

* Take personal responsibility to embed effective prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections into everyday practice.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.


Salary

£38,488 to £46,852 per annum inclusive of HCAS.
