Overview
Senior BI Applications (Technical) Manager – Kingston University. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 October 2026, with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum. This maternity cover role operates within the Portfolio Performance team and supports evidence-based decision-making across the University through high-quality data insights.
The Role
Kingston University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior BI Technical Analyst to join the Portfolio Performance team on a maternity cover basis. The team designs, develops, and enhances data warehouse and BI solutions to support strategic decision-making. You will work with our Data Warehouse Contractor to gather requirements, build dashboards, and ensure data integrity and performance using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server BI Suite and Tableau, including a migration from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud where applicable.
* Lead the design and implementation of data models and BI solutions.
* Support student number intake and population modelling.
* Develop dashboards that provide actionable insights.
* Facilitate stakeholder workshops and reporting demos.
* Support migration from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud.
* Ensure BI and DWH technologies are fit for purpose and align with governance standards.
* Deputise for the Head of Portfolio Performance when required.

The Person
We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background and a passion for data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will be:
* Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience.
* Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server and Tableau (ideally Tableau Cloud).
* Skilled in stakeholder engagement and influencing senior decision-makers.
* Experienced in managing the full BI/DWH service lifecycle.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
* Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to change.
* Experience in the Higher Education sector.
* Familiarity with enterprise applications and databases, including HR and Finance.
* Previous project-based experience.
You will join a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working with stakeholders across the University including senior leadership, academic staff, and external consultants.
