My client, is one of the UK’s leading waste infrastructure operators, with a legacy dating back to 1956. They manage over 1.3 million tonnes of waste annually, operating a strategic network of 7 active landfill sites and overseeing 36 additional locations across the country. My client places a strong emphasis on restoring closed landfill sites and reintegrating them into the natural environment and at the forefront of environmental transformation. From restoring landfills into biodiverse green spaces to managing complex waste streams like asbestos, they are at the forefront of environmental stewardship and infrastructure resilience.
With a national footprint spanning over 40 sites and a workforce supporting critical waste infrastructure across the UK, my client is a leading player in the environmental services sector. Serving more than 500 clients, they are now seeking their first and sole Legal Counsel to join and lead their dynamic company and growing in-house legal team. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 3 days in office per week at one of based in the Midlands.
Due to continued and robust growth, they are currently looking to add their first Sole Senior Legal Counsel to their Company, working in one of their Midlands locations reporting into Senior Management. This is a strategically important hire as my client continues to scale their property and infrastructure portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Advise and liaise with internal stakeholders on commercial property matters, ensuring legal compliance and strategic alignment.
* Manage property acquisitions and disposals, reviewing all related documentation and advising as necessary.
* Produce and review acquisition documentation, including leases and summary documents.
* Take a lead in negotiating property matters, supporting the commerciality of properties through rental reviews and lease management
Requirements
* UK (or common law equivalent) qualified solicitor with ideally 5-10 years PQE (flexible based on quality of experience)
* Demonstrated experience in handling acquisitions, disposals, and lease negotiations.
* A strong ability to advise on and resolve commercial disputes.
* A proven track record of supporting property management and commerciality.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with internal teams.
