What is the job?
To support the Value Stream Supervisor in setting direction for their cell, closely supporting all operators to achieve adherence to safety requirements, high attention to quality, and on-time delivery of components or products.
As a Lead Manufacturing Operator, you will be very much hands-on in this physical role, working as part of the production team, expressing a can-do attitude and an eye for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 4:30pm & Friday 7.30am – 12.30pm

What we would like you to do/see…
* Ensure all operators work safely, adhering to all PPE requirements and safe working practices.
* Motivate, support, train, and guide team members.
* Support in leading an allocated team to achieve manufacturing targets.
* Drive cross-training and team development to improve quality, output, and flexibility within the team.
* Ensure all team members have signed appropriate risk assessments, SSOW, and competence forms for all tasks.
* Manage and distribute resources and tasks effectively on a daily basis.
* Work collaboratively with the team to develop strategies that promote adherence to regulations.
* Coordinate with other production line leaders, planning, logistics, and quality to ensure timely and quality fulfillment of orders.

Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, in the medieval city of Ely. The site is accessible by train and bus from London, with nearby Ely train and bus stations.
What is essential to us…
* Apprenticeship trained or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of LEAN manufacturing techniques and quality systems, promoting initiatives like 5S and Takt cycles.
* Experience troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
* Ability to follow and adapt Standard Operating Procedures.
* Mechanical aptitude, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills.
* Team-oriented with good information sharing.
* Respectful work ethic and ability to work with a diverse team.
* Clear and collaborative communication skills.
